baracked the vote

i voted for obama.
i was excited for him to win.

it wasn't because he was black.

i held out on doin an obama entry cause i know y'all sensitive bout ya new black president [elect]. but lemme just say...

i'm not fooled.

and this ain some conspiracy theorist shit. but while they have ya attention with the opposite of scare tactics, do you know what their sneakin in? did you know they was thisclose to bailin out the auto industry? these niggas came to the meetin in private jets but was bouta get $25B...i don't know where in the fuck y'all thought that money was gone come from. maybe we was gone borrow some more from japan or china....nah how bout tax payers! but the point is though all this shit is happenin now before bush get out cause he owe mufuckas favors. he ain gone til jan i don't care what obama is choosin in the papers or wha the fuck kinda tickets you think you gettin for the "party."

and what about this recession they still not tryna acknowledge? don't wanna say the word but keep throwin out the term "global economy" like nobody knows what that means. wait...do you? cause niggas act like just cause the new dude look like them the war is over. like we've won something. like it's still about black and white. but it's green. so maybe i'm only doin this entry to remind y'all to reassess ya energy. y'all might be focusin on the wrong shit, read the paper, watch the news and then do ya own research. don't let these mufuckas tell you what's important

Here goes a breakdown of just what the HereAfter is all about...

The HEREafter is a Hip Hop meets Spoken Word forum that focuses on a more promising future, i.e, a future shaped and maintained by grassroots activism.
Our aim is to motivate the Hip Hop/Spoken Word community to be active participants in bringing about the type of change needed to move the culture, community and country to a HERE after 8 years of rule by fear under the Bush administration, HERE after unfettered greed and corporate profit over people, HERE after substandard public schooling, HERE after racism, sexism, ignorance, violence, and hate, HERE after major record companies, and HERE after mainstream radio and video stations misrepresentation of Hip Hop culture!!!

We need your help to make this event a complete success! The Troc holds about 250 people in the Balcony and we NEED 300 people in the building to really make this thing happen!!! Please come down and bring a friend with you...It's all on us...Let's make our Rhetoric a Reality!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have any questions about The HereAfter please contact Born Free at intelligentmuzik@yahoo.com / bornfree9@hotmail.com or hit us up at our myspace site...www. myspace. com/wiseintelligent

heavy

my kids are leaving me...soon...
some thanksgiving. *rme*

they aren't mine by any definition but love. they're gettin adopted and as much as i want to be happy for them i don't know if it will be the best for them. they've been so many places and this place (insert problems to factor out) is the most stable they've had in years, and the oldest is only 14! they'll all be together, 4 of them, and it will be with one of the kids' grandma.

it seems real good but they'll have to move from kansas to texas. these are not strangers to them but they've made a life in kansas, the most stable they've ever known. they've made friends, found new family that love and provide for them, and made memories they'll have the rest of their lives.
what if they aren't all treated fairly? what if they're all neglected? will these people be willing to stick with it for the long haul? or will they be thrown back into the system with an estimated 499,996 other american kids in foster care?

but why? why did i have to encounter so many? why do these 4 have to take my heart to texas with them? cause they mamas didn't want them. couldn't get past selfishness to take care of them. their sperm donors have other lives and selfish motives that don't include kids. beautiful kids that are smart and friendly and well mannered...and some of my best friends. kids are so consistent! i'm gonna lose my mind when they're gone...and maybe it's a little selfish. i really do hope they'll be happy and successful...i want the best for them. them my babies y'all.

keep um in ya thoughts

the renaissance

cover for "gettin up"

"we fight for love so much sometimes i get confused of who we are..." - we fight/we love

i'm sayin though, with features like raphael saadiq on "we fight/we love", nora jones, d'angelo(could it be) on "believe" and amanda diva, it's clear q-tip ain't fell off. and not that i'm just goin down the tracklist, i do have favorites, i'm just sayin. when's the last time you bought an album from the rap section with them kinda features?

EXACTLY!!

not to mention the vibe though...like if you had the instrumental, it would still be the soundtrack for a fly ass sunday night. (enter favorites) "shaka" & "man/woman" definitely. we been needin this one. the rhymes is still intact and by no means has the originality faded. i mean really...who needs publicity stunts when you droppin on the day of change? november 4th people! this is not another rapper gone too long, tip is timeless, trust!

preview the renaissance here - props to imeem.com for the exclusive but fuck the sign up

i'ma keep y'all up on releases too, just my own lil fantasy of the perfect record store.

p.s. philly heads - there's a free performance the 6th to the first 200 people @ Trocadero Theatre Upstairs - 1003 Arch Street @ 11pm for grown ups (21+)
